Dan Carter

Central Atlantic Director

Brevard County FCA Metro Director Dan Carter is a Christ follower. He is husband to Kate and they are blessed to have five children, Payton (9), Adison (7), Avery (5), James (3), and Karis (1). Dan and Kate are members of the faith family at First Baptist Church of Melbourne where they are currently serving in the youth ministry teaching 7th and 8th graders and are leaders of their life group.

Dan was born and raised in Brevard County, Florida. He played football for Palm Bay High School where he was a three-year letterman and defensive captain on the 2000 6A State Championship Team. Dan and his family were very active in FCA during his high school years. After graduating high school, Dan attended the University of North Florida and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Education. He then went on to pursue his Master’s degree from Jones International University in Educational Leadership. In 2014, he completed his doctorate from the University of Central Florida, also in Educational Leadership.

Dan taught History and Law at Palm Bay High School upon completion of his Bachelor’s degree and was an FCA huddle leader. He was also the defensive coordinator on the varsity football team and was head track and field coach. He then went into administration and was an assistant principal for three years for Brevard County Public Schools. Dan felt the Lord calling him into full time ministry and he was obedient to that calling and has loved working full time as an FCA missionary.

Jason Schack

Brevard County Director

Jason was born in Melbourne and grew up in a Christian home. He graduated from the University of Central Florida. He has a degree in health and physical education. Jason became a teacher and coach at Melbourne High School in 2004. In 2008, he was asked to lead an FCA huddle on campus. He said yes! And the opportunity changed the course of his life, spiritually and professionally. He watched the Lord change lives of teenagers on that campus. That opened his eyes to a greater need and a higher calling.

After nine years in the Brevard County school system, Jason accepted the call to full-time student ministry. God opened door after door and led him to be the Student Pastor at FBC Melbourne in May 2014. The Lord taught him the importance of solid biblical teaching, discipleship and the local church. Those things bore fruit and prepared Jason for a new chapter of his journey.

Jason is back in the schools, fields and courts to bring the gospel to those who haven’t heard it. He seeks to connect student athletes, parents and coaches to their local churches. Everything about FCA excites him. It is the greatest ministry for the front lines of our greatest mission field: the school campus!

Jason is married to a wonderful, patient and beautiful woman named Joanna. They have three children: Ansley, Ashlyn and John Luke. In his spare time, he enjoys fishing, hunting and the great outdoors.

His favorite verse is 2 Corinthians 5:17, “If anyone is in Christ he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.” This verse paints the perfect picture of our surrendered life to Christ as his creation! Go, share that with the world!

Rebecca Cannon

Area Representative

Rebecca and her husband Taylor are missionaries in Brevard County, Florida. Rebecca is devoted to serving female coaches, athletes and teachers while promoting FCA in her area.

From an early age, Rebecca followed Christ and loved being involved in ministry any way possible. She served as a leader in her high school’s FCA program and spent a summer as the youth ministry intern at First Baptist Church of Melbourne, but she hadn’t considered working in full-time ministry.

Rebecca went on to finish a B.S. in Business Management at the University of Central Florida. She also traveled to several countries where the Gospel was widely unknown. During these trips, Rebecca gained a deeper awareness of how desperate our world is for a Savior, and she committed to following Jesus wherever he would lead her.

She entered the workforce in hospitality and began studying for a Master’s in Business Administration at the Florida Institute of Technology. Rebecca toiled in search of a career she was passionate about.

Then God stepped in ...

Rebecca was unexpectedly given the chance to serve as a missionary for FCA! She accepted! And God immediately began revealing that this was right where He wanted her to be.

She is excited to see God doing amazing things, through her ministry, in her community. She prays God would use her and a team of volunteers to form a FCA huddle for each women’s sports team in the Brevard County Public School District, providing the opportunity for these women to hear and respond to the Gospel with their lives.

By investing in her ministry, will you please join Rebecca in impacting Brevard County for Jesus Christ?

Travis Woernley

Area Representative

Travis is a Florida Native, who has grown up in the North Brevard area. He married his lifelong friend, Chrystal in the fall of 2014. Together, they have two wonderfully made children. Scarlett is 3 years old and is the big sister to her baby brother Shepard who is just about 1.

Travis spent 5 years in retail, sales, and management. He felt his calling to ministry while making his hour- long commute to work, where he devoted the time spent in the car to praying and getting to know the Lord. After a door opened up that lead him back to working closer to home, he had more time to pursue his calling. The lord really made a strong charge when the youth pastor position opened up at his home church. After meeting with the Lead pastor he found himself volunteering with the youth ministry and after a few months was given the opportunity to come on staff as the student pastor.

Between then and now, Travis witnessed the Lord working through him and his community through a sports ministry set up through his church. Making a big impact, the ministry went from one school and two sports, to four schools and 12 sports. Next thing, Travis was sitting in front of Detro Director, Dan Carter, and Brevard County Director, Jason Shack, at Cracker Barrel with a desire to minister to these schools full time. After finding out that this is exactly what they did for a living and that this was the direction the Lord was leading him, he leaned in and started to prepare for the journey.

Travis and his family reside in Titusville which is central to the area which he will be representing for FCA. He is amazed at how God is working through the ministry in this community and is excited to see how to Lord is going to change the lives of the student athletes within it.
