He has saved us and called us to a holy life--not because of anything we have done but because of his own purpose and grace. This grace was given us in Christ Jesus before the beginning of time,

I am so grateful for the opportunity to serve as an ambassador for Christ in countless situations over the past year. During the 2014-2015 school year, God opened many doors and provided numerous ministry opportunities for the Fellowship of Christian Athletes in Brevard County. FCA identifies four C’s of Ministry: Campus, Community, Camp and Coaches. I’d like to share with you what we’ve been doing to serve our local community in each of these four areas.
FCA has been growing in influence and numbers across our county. We had a total of 28 FCA Huddles meeting on 19 different campuses, up from just six huddles the previous school year. This year we were able to successfully multiply our efforts on several campuses; having not only the general huddle meeting, but also have sport specific huddles. Multiple huddles on one campus enables us to increase our opportunity to share the Gospel to a broader student body.
These huddles not only meet for the purpose to learn about Jesus, encourage and pray with one another, but they also have the opportunity to be the hands and feet of Christ through serving their campuses. The students participate in numerous service opportunities throughout the year, ranging from praying for staff members, providing care packages for custodians and bus drivers, adopting families to provide Thanksgiving meals, and providing a luncheon for the teachers and staff.
Throughout the year we were able expand our ability to serve our community through partnerships with numerous churches and organizations. A key highlight of community ministry include hosting large FCA and church gatherings called 1Church. In collaboration with local area churches, 1Church events provided the students with fellowship, worship, games, and speakers. Through the 1Church events we were able to see several students put their faith in Jesus as their Lord and Savior…Praise the Lord!
New opportunities included partnership with the Brevard County Sheriff’s department to provide character education to high school athletes at Eau Gallie High school. Additionally, we were able to have FCA Huddles in several new arenas:
- West Melbourne Youth Football FCA Huddle
- FCA Endurance, an adult group of runners, bikers and swimmers
- FCA Outdoors, an area of ministry for students that are interested in hunting, fishing and canoeing
This summer provided the wonderful opportunity to be involved in several camps. Student leaders from our local huddles attended the FCA Leadership Camp. At this camp, hosted at Southeastern University in Lakeland, 300+ FCA student leaders gathered together for a week of encouragement, teaching, competition, praise and fun. While there, students are trained on how to serve their campuses for Christ. This camp is truly a blessing for all that attend. It is our goal to have every campus in Brevard County represented at this camp next year.
For the first time ever we were able to host our own FCA camp right here in Melbourne! We hosted 30 4th – 8th graders and provide them with a local camp experience. Local high school, college leaders and coaches were able to work directly with students through prayer and bible teaching. It was amazing to see God move in lives at camp this summer. It is our prayer that we can expand and faithfully serve in this area for many years to come.
As we work to minister to students, it is imperative that we understand the influence that teachers and coaches have on the lives of their pupils. As we work with teachers and coaches, we try to encourage them along their journey. Many times, coaches are overwhelmed with their responsibility to balance their roles in the classroom, on the field or court and with their own family. We work to provide encouragement for these valuable individuals through 1 on 1 meetings, FCA Coaches Huddles and FCA Coaches retreats.
In His Service,
